Pastor's Message
June 1, 2008
I begin my ministry with the people at Mayfair Christian Church a week after First Christian Church of Stockton celebrated their last worship service. I was present last week at First Christian as the members and over a hundred guests worshiped in their sanctuary. It was one of those happy/sad moments we all have in our life - sad because it was their last service together and happy because we gave God thanks for their many years of ministry. It reminded me of the fact that churches need to reinvent themselves every several years. It is necessary for churches to rediscover the passion for reaching out to people in the community with the message of God's love and acceptance lest that passion be lost.
I am excited for the chance to serve a church that is engaged in the process of trans-remorphing. You have already been looking for new ways of reaching out and I applaud you and look forward to serving Christ with you at Mayfair as you carry out these new ministries. Together as pastor and congregation we will work at inviting people to come and meet Jesus Christ here at Mayfair. Together we will let those who enter the doors of Mayfair know that God loves them. Together, we will seek to discover new ways of being and doing church. That is exciting!
Jesus told his disciples and us to, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.” I look forward to serving you as you pastor, and with you, I look forward to making and nurturing disciples Christian Church.
